I don't know if I've given enough attention to a significant part of my life, and that is music. I have played the viola since I was in third grade. I minored in music while attending CWRU, Cleveland, OH. I also took viola lessons at the Cleveland Institute of Music and played in musical ensembles while at CWRU.
While living in the Cleveland area, I joined the Cleveland Women's Orchestra under the baton of Hyman Chandler. I also played with the Cleveland Philharmonic and later, in Cincinnati, played with the Fairfield Hamilton Symphony.
After we moved to the Washington D.C. area, I played viola with the Friday Morning Music Club and with some ensembles.
In 2008, I fell down a flight of stairs, injuring my neck, so I stopped playing the viola. Four years later, I attempted to play the violin, which was a smaller and lighter instrument and didn't put a strain on my neck, and have been playing violin since 2012. I took lessons from Deb Stotelmyer at HCC and also played at CVSM for a couple of years. In 2014, I joined the Frederick Symphony Orchestra as second violin under the batons of Elise Koehler and later, Glenn Quadar. I played with the FSO about six years until Covid. During that time, I was involved in their outreach program to the different local libraries where I would play with small ensembles during story telling time to the children and to other groups.
